A book for small humans about how our emotions shift and change — sometimes fast, sometimes slow; from one to the other, back-and-forth; furiously intense or hardly there.

Writing this, I had to be extra mindful of the flow of my own emotions. Mother will be proud I finally made use of my tiny box of meditation tools.

Also, I got to work with Andy Ristaino, from Adventure Time!

That show is a landmark in modern children’s fiction. My kids spent nearly a decade in the Land of Ooo. If you have kids older than four, try it with them — it’s beautiful, hilarious, inventive, and kind.

Andy of course, was patient with this noob. His notes were a masterclass in visual narrative and I learned loads.

This was also the last book I worked on with that very cool human, my editor and guide, Cait Robertson. Hi, Cait!

If Trippa hadn’t ‘borrowed’ the weird, glowing cube belonging to their mad scientist auntie, and if Roo hadn’t pushed the button on the stupid cube, when Nooshka very clearly said, in her ‘I should’ve been the oldest sibling’ voice, well, none of this would be happening, would it?

None of the siblings would be trapped, only 5mm tall, in a world where suddenly, the air is as thick as soup and frogs are the size of elephants. We won’t say anything about the leeches for now.

Podi will be published by Oni Press in, like, 2024? If you’d like to check in and see how it’s going, we’re updating here.
